Imphal, January 31:
Internationally renowned writer Amitav Ghosh will present the world premiere public reading of his forthcoming book Flood of Fire as the 3rd M.K. Binodini Devi Memorial Lecture on February 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Gate, Imphal. Presented by Imasi: The Maharaj Kumari Binodini Devi Foundation, and co-presented by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, the reading and discussion with the writer will be followed by the release of The Maharaja’s Household: A Daughter’s Memories of Her Father, the English translation of M.K. Binodini Devi’s Churachand Maharajgi Imung, by the Chief Guest, the Hon. O. Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister, Government of Manipur. The event will close with the Manipur premiere of Anjika’s Black Swan: The Chosen One, directed and choreographed by Priti Patel.
Padma Shri and Sahitya Akademi Award winning writer Amitav Ghosh is the internationally bestselling author of Sea of Poppies (shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize) and River of Smoke, the first two novels in the Ibis Trilogy, of which Flood of Fire is the final installment.
