Imphal, Feb 19:
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, is expected to attend the upcoming Convocation ceremony at Manipur University. The invitation was personally extended by Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey during her recent visit to Delhi.
During a meeting held at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today, Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, along with all the Deans of Schools of Studies, expressed their gratitude to the Governor for her support. They also discussed the challenges faced by the university, particularly regarding the displacement of faculty and staff due to ethnic clashes that occurred on May 3rd last year. Seeking advice on this matter was also a key point of the discussion.
It may be mentioned that the academic atmosphere of Manipur University has been somewhat affected following the crisis that started on May 3, 2023. Many faculties and staff have been displaced and even some students have left the University due to the conflict.
