PREPAK to observe Athoubasinggi Ningsing Nummit

Proscribed group PREPAK is observing “Athoubasinggi Ningsing Nuacmit” on November 12. The group has been observing the day since 1979 as a mark of respect and honour to the three revolutionary leaders who had given up their life in an encounter with combined security force at Kameng Ching on the day in 1978. Those killed by the security force were Ayekpam Dhiren @ Angam of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Phurailatpam Kabikanta @ Laimu @ Leingam of Sagolband Meino Leirak of PREPAK and Pukhrambam Ganbhir of Kakwa Naorem leikai of the PLA. The three fought a deadly battle with the combined security force and sacrifice their life, said a press statement of the outfit. Later, on the same day of 1985, another leader of the party identified as RK Tullachanda was killed after a security personnel fired while attempting to snatch weapon at Kabowakching area near Sugar Mill. Combining the two event the PREPAK has been observing the day as Athoubasinggi Ningsing Numit.
The press statement appealed the people of the state to light candle at 7 pm of the day as a mark of honour to the three departed souls. And also appealed to shun all sort of entertainment programme including film shows at theaters.
