The People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) [PREPAK(P)], through its Department of Publicity, has issued a heartfelt condolence message mourning the passing of renowned theatre icon Ratan Thiyam, acknowledging his demise as a profound loss to Kangleipak (Manipur) and the world of theatre.
In its official statement, L. Ningsingba, Assistant Publicity Secretary, PREPAK (Progressive) described Ratan Thiyam as an inspirational figure and a guiding light of Kanglei culture, whose contributions in the field of drama, theatre, literature, and music resonated both nationally and globally. The party recognised him as a transformative force who brought dignity and cultural pride to Kangleipak through his artistic brilliance.
Calling him a “rare, distinguished son of the soil,” the group praised Ratan Thiyam’s role in elevating the traditional and modern fusion of Manipuri art forms onto the global stage. His legacy, it said, inspired many to stand firm in their cultural identity and continue working for the betterment of society through creativity and expression.
