PREPAK (Pro) claims bomb blasts at AR Transit camp; says it is a response to the Home Coming ceremony

A day after the state government felicitated 20 (twenty) armed rebel groups, who had laid down armed and surrendered, by organizing ‘Home Coming ceremony’, armed rebel group PREPAK (Pro) attacked at the Transit Camp of Assam Rifles located at Minuthong here in Imphal by basting a hand grenade injuring a personnel.
Police report said that the blast occurred at around 7.45 pm of Wednesday and the injured Riflemen of the AR have been identified as Bimal Rai of 43 AR. A splinter hit at his left arm.
Proscribed group PREPAK (Pro), while claiming the blast said that the blast was a response to the Homecoming ceremony by terming it as a drama. A statement by Th. Ishingchaoba, Assistant Publicity Secretary, PREPAK (Pro) said that the attack was carried out by the organisation’s Cobra Task Force (CTF). It however said the PREPAK (Pro) understands that such a blast may not give much impact, but then it is a message to show that the party can act and the homecoming drama will give no effect to the armed struggle.
A strong message from the PREPAK (Pro) to the government of Manipur as stated in the statement is that advice from the Modi-Shah will not be able to solve the issue of the region.
The outfit criticized the government for giving more priority to the Home Coming ceremony at a time when the region is haunted by illicit drugs. Instead of trying to destroy the open drug factories as per the law of the land, the regime is spending a huge amount of Money to abolish the armed struggle in the region.
The statement encourages security forces in taking up extreme measures to end drug smugglers. It said the security forces who were alleged of punishing civilians even at the cost of their lives if taken up similar action to those drug smugglers people will support them, the PREPAK (Pro) said. It also added that the reason for hindrance to the “War on Drugs” is because some people are using money earned from this are utilizing it to the election.
Rebel groups are not against development works, the statement said and said that without finding out the root of the revolutionary movement, a short-term measurement like making the machine run by putting some screw will not work.
