Imphal, March 28:
Proscribed groups the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) [PREPAK (Pro)] and Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), in a joint statement, expressed their deep condolences over the untimely demise of LCpl. Maibam Naotonba alias Naatngakpa Meetei of PREPAK (Pro) and Lt. Angom Santatomba alias Ingo of KYKL’s army wing, Meeyamgi Yawol Lanmee (MYL).
According to the statement issued by the Central Committee of PREPAK (Pro) and KYKL, both fighters lost their lives on March 25, 2025, in a fierce gunfight against the Indian Army and its proxy force, KNF(B), at Kanglei-Myanmar (Manipur-Myanmar border).
LCpl. Maibam Naotonba, aged 18, was the son of (Late) M. Hemanta Meetei and Maibam Ongbi Hemabati Devi of Serou Makha Leikai. He was the fourth son in his family and joined PREPAK (Pro) in December 2023, where he underwent basic military training. The statement described him as a disciplined, dedicated, and courageous revolutionary.
Lt. Angom Santatomba, aged 37, was the son of (Late) A. Chandramani Meetei of Phayeng Mayai Leikai. He joined KYKL at an early age in 2007, completed his training in the 24th batch, and served as a fighter under MYL.
The statement further highlighted that Lt. Santatomba was a highly skilled and brave soldier. He was among the revolutionaries involved in the infamous Puraolon Ambush on June 4, 2015, in Chandel District, where a joint force of three insurgent groups—KCP, KYKL, and NSCN(K)—attacked an Indian Army convoy of the 6th Dogra Regiment, killing 18 soldiers and injuring 15.
The joint statement emphasized that the sacrifices of these two fallen revolutionaries will not be forgotten. It stated that their dedication and commitment to the cause should serve as an inspiration to future generations. The organizations urged their comrades to honor their memory by continuing the struggle with resilience, determination, and love for their homeland.
PREPAK (Pro) and KYKL also conveyed their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased fighters, acknowledging the deep sorrow and loss they must endure.
