The proscribed group People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has announced the death of one of its Red Army (RA) cadres, Tongbram Borish alias Thangalakpa, aged 19.
According to a statement issued by Mangal Khuman, Publicity Officer of the Department of Publicity and Propaganda, PREPAK, the RA cadre passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at around 7:30 pm following an illness at the Red Army Unit Base Area 707 Mobile Battalion.
Borish, son of Tongbram Bobby and Tongbram Ongbi Abem of Thanga Moirangthem Leikai in Bishnupur District, was the second son in the family. The statement said that he had joined PREPAK during his teenage years after being influenced by the prevailing circumstances in the state. He reportedly underwent Basic Military Training as part of the Red Army’s 53rd Batch and was later inducted as a party cadre under Army No. 24085330.
PREPAK described him as a committed youth who strongly believed in the cause of Manipur’s independence. Though his life was cut short at a young age, the group stated that his contributions would be remembered in the history of its movement.
The outfit expressed condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, and comrades, and assured that the struggle for which he had dedicated his life would continue with renewed determination.
