PPAM stage sit-in demonstration

The People’s Progressive Alliance Manipur (PPAM) organised a peaceful sit-in solidarity programme in Imphal on Friday, calling for the restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur and raising concerns over the prevailing political, security and humanitarian situation in the state.

Held under the theme “Restore Peace and Normalcy in Manipur,” the programme brought together participants who displayed placards highlighting their concerns over proxy warfare, hate campaigns, divisive politics and the need to safeguard human rights. The demonstrators also raised slogans against what they described as campaigns promoting hatred and social division.

Through their placards and banners, the participants called for an end to proxy warfare in Manipur, the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) arrangement, and an end to hate campaigns and divisive political practices. They also drew attention to the importance of protecting the dignity, security and rights of the people.

The programme reflected PPAM’s appeal for collective efforts to address the continuing crisis in Manipur, which has witnessed prolonged violence, displacement, insecurity and immense suffering since May 3, 2023. The organisation emphasised the need for peace, justice and a return to normalcy through constructive engagement and public solidarity.
