The All Manipur Powerlifting Association organized a reception ceremony today at the Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai Community Hall to honor the medalists, participants and officials who took part in the 2023 international and national championships.
Takhellambam Phulem Meitei, the Director of Youth Affairs and Sports for the Government of Manipur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Laishram Deben, the President of the Association, was also in attendance. Elangbam Johnson, a well-known social worker, Ng Thouba Singh, President of AMPLA, and Khumukcham Rinku, Editor of Imphal Times were the guests of honor at the reception.
In his speech, Takhellambam Phulem Meitei emphasized the impressive performance of many young athletes across various sports disciplines. He mentioned that these talented individuals are being offered job opportunities, even those without the required educational qualifications are now being given high-ranking positions.
The Government of Manipur is actively introducing more provisions and schemes to support this cause.
Laishram Deben, the Director of JNIMS, spoke about the importance of sports in leading a healthy and prolonged life. He highlighted how sports contribute to instilling discipline in young people and how the achievements of our youth in sports bring laurels to society.
