Imphal, Aug 6:
Power Minister Th. Biswajit announced today that the results for the recruitment tests of Group C and Group D posts at the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) and Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) will be declared before the end of 2024. This statement was made in response to a question raised by Congress MLA K. Ranjit during the state assembly session.
Minister Biswajit explained that the government initially aimed to release the results within two months of the exam, but various factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, elections, and subsequent crises, delayed the process. He detailed that the recruitment exams, held in three phases in January 2020, saw 38,877 applicants for MSPDCL and 17,081 applicants for MSPCL, competing for a total of 907 posts.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 significantly disrupted the schedule, with nearly two years lost to strict SOPs and lockdowns. Following the pandemic, the elections further postponed the process. Just as the government stabilized, a crisis erupted in Manipur, causing additional delays.
Minister Biswajit assured that the results are nearly ready but require thorough scrutiny to avoid any RTI applications or complaints. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent process.
Congress MLA K. Ranjit expressed concern about candidates potentially exceeding the age limit for recruitment tests due to the delays. Minister Biswajit responded that candidates are not restricted from applying for other job opportunities while awaiting the results.
