Unable to find means for survival and probably seeing to means to bear to the cost of their only 6 years old son, a couple consumed caustic soda to kill themselves but the husband survives in critical state while the 42 years old wife succumbed at the hospital.
The incident reportedly happened at around 2 am today morning .
The deceased Sarangthem Ningol Leimapokpam Ongbi Sundari @ Abem and her husband Leimapokpam Imocha @ Ingocha of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal Makha Leikai were found lying at their temporary residence.
Both Sundari and Imocha were taken to JNIMS hospital, as the condition of both worsen Sundari was referred to Advance Hospital and her husband Imocha at RIMS. Sundari succumbed while her husband is still struggling for life at RIMS.
According to a report from deceased family, last night around 12:30 am, Imocha, after returning from an urgent work left with Sundari without informing any of the family members.
Later at around 2 am family members were informed that the duo were admitted at JNIMS after they were found consuming caustic soda.
A suicide note found indicate that both might have tried to commit suicide as they were unable to fulfill the future of their only 6 years old son due to extreme poverty. Imocha who is a resident of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal Makha Leikai had sold all his property including his house and have been residing at Sundari parental home due to health condition of Sundari and were look after by the bride family members, according to a family member.
Both were unemployed though Imocha work as a daily labourer and had one 6 years old son.
