Poshan Maah launched; We must serve the people with sincerity, dedication and honesty: CM

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that we must serve the people with sincerity, dedication and honesty and need to think for the common good rather than for personal benefits. This was stated by him at the launching of POSHAN Maah (National Nutritional Month), 2019 held at Tribal Research Institute, Imphal East today.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister stated that various schemes and measures have been taken up by the State government to eradicate poverty in the State. Stating that the government has introduced many welfare schemes, Chief Minister stated that we need to constantly monitor that whether the people are getting the benefits of the welfare schemes at the grassroots. He urged the people of the State to take the benefits of the schemes initiated by the government so far.
Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a legendary Prime Minister of India. Prime Minister has introduced many welfare schemes with human touch and no other leader or Prime Minister has done so much as he is doing for the country, he added. Under his leadership, a revolution has been brought in every sector in this country, he added. He stated that we should follow his footsteps to bring positive change in the State.
Mentioning about the current scarcity of rainfall in the State, Chief Minister said that the State Cabinet after consultations with MLAs and officials of various departments has declared the State as drought affected State. All preventive and precautionary measures have been taken up to cope the situation, he added. He maintained that the government is planning to provide alternative crops to the farmers of the State.
Stating that the government is focussing in improving government schools and School Fagathansi Mission was introduced to provide quality education to the children, he stated that this year, government schools have recorded highest pass percentage above 74 percent in HSLC exam till now. Such result shows the commitment of the government to improve education sector in the State, he added.
Chief Minister announced that a District level Monitoring Committee and Block Level Monitoring Committee would be formed so as to keep vigil on the activities of the Anganwadi Centres across the State. Concerned DCs, DSOs, officials of Health Department will constitute the Committee, he added.
He urged the people of the State to take the benefits of the schemes initiated by the government so far.
During the function, Chief Minister handed over the appointment letter to Khangembam Bijaya, sister of late Khangembam Santosh of Thoubal Athokpam. Khangembam Bijaya has been appointed as Graduate Teacher at Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel.
Minster for Agriculture V. Hangkhanlian, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board S. Rajen, Secreatary to Chief Minister N. Geoffrey, Director Social Welfare Ng. Uttam, officials of Social Welfare Department, Anganwadi and ASHA workers attended the function.
