Polling for absentee voters begins in Imphal West

With polling for Imphal West just a week away, polling for Absentee Voters for the 13 Assembly Constituencies in the district has begun on February 21. Altogether 3278 people including citizens over 80 years of age and persons with disability are eligible for postal ballot to cast their votes at home in Imphal West district as Absentee Voters.
In all, 55 polling teams were today flagged off from the DC complex to visit homes of the Absentee Voters in the district and get them to exercise their voting rights.
A total of 989 Absentee Voters casted their votes in the district today, which include 84 voters in 10-Uripok AC, 121 in Keishamthong AC, 73 in Singjamei AC, 76 in Sekmai AC, 77 in Lamsang AC, 130 in Konthoujam AC, 87 in Patsoi AC, 115 in Langthabal AC, 129 in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, 67 in Wangoi and 58 in Mayang Imphal. The actual vote count for Sagolband AC and Thangmeiband AC cannot be ascertained till the filing of this report.
The whole process will be conducted in two rounds with the first round continuing till February 22. For those who are left out during the first phase, a second trip will be made on February 25.
