Police pick-up 2 students undergoing fast-unto-death protest at Yairipok

Thoubal, Aug.7: Police today picked up two students who were undergoing fast-unto-death protest against state government proposal to construct power sub-station inside the premises of Yairipok Government Aided School. The students of the school began relay hunger strike from August 1, but two students started fast-unto-death protest from August 3 after authority failed to listen their demands. A team of state police today came to the site where the fast-unto-death protest was being underway and picked up the two students at around 1.30 pm today. The police team also vandalize the make ship for blocking the road.  
Nahakpam Suresh, a student if class VIII and Konjengbam Shyandhrani of class IX began the fast-unto-death protest from 6 pm of August 3 in protest against the construction of the power sub-station. They demanded construction of the power sub-station at some other place.
Condemning the excess of the police, a student of the school said that there will be no turning back to the agitation of the students unless the government authority change their mind and construct the power sub-station at some other place. They also threaten more intense form of agitation in the coming days.
