Police foils kidnap attempt, rescue driver

A team of Imphal East police led by OC Kh. Henery foils a kidnap attempt of a driver and rescues him from gunmen in Chingarel area last evening.
Report reaching here said that a driver of a Tata Mega Excel truck bearing Registration No. MN 06 L 2728 was stopped by six gunmen who came in two-wheeler vehicles near Salanthong area in Imphal. The driver of the truck has been identified as Noor Khan (39) son of Md. Abdul Rahim. The six gunmen reportedly came in two-wheeler vehicles – one a white colour Activa and another a yellow colour Dio. The gunmen overpower the driver and took him towards Chingarel Tezpur area but the driver Noor Khan managed to escape and hide somewhere taking advantage of the darkness.
On receiving the information the team of Imphal East Police led by OC Kh. Henery rushed to the site and conducted a search operation to rescue the driver. The truck was found between Sajiwa Jail and Chingarel. When conducting the search operation Noor Khan was seen hiding in a pile of straw. He was rescued and later on follow up action, the gunmen managed to escape however a pistol with bullets was found by the police team.
