Manipur Police seized 429 litres of illicit DIC liquor concealed inside a car at Kakching Lamkhai and arrested two persons in connection with the case.
According to an update issued by Manipur Police, the seizure was made today during a checking operation at Kakching Lamkhai. Police intercepted a Maruti Swift (registration number MN-06L-7989) and, upon inspection, recovered 40 plastic packages containing 429 litres of DIC liquor hidden inside the vehicle.
The two accused have been identified as Hijam Yohenba Singh (25) and Ningthoujam Joykumar Singh (44), both residents of Andro Kharam Leikai in Imphal East district.
Police said the duo was arrested on the spot, and the vehicle along with the seized liquor was taken into custody.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband, police added.
