Sahitya Academi on its 60th golden jubilee celebration organised a two day long ‘All India Poetry Festival’ today at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, H. Behari Singh, Convener, Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Academi said that the state is a very small state which is fully surrounded by hills and is covered with various cultures. He appreciated that the poetry festival is being organised in the state so that the multi lingual and cultures of the state could be shown to other states. He added that poetry if the first form of literature and it expresses emotion and feelings.
President, Sahitya Academi, Vishwanath Tiwari, said that Sahitya Academi is one of the biggest forms of organisation. Poetry is a discipline of language which can be expressed in two forms; protest and justice. He added that poetry is written in the forms of proverbs which give information of non violence to the people.
