Punjab National Bank (PNB) today inaugurated a new branch at Senvon village in Pherzawl district, marking a significant step towards improving financial access in the remote border region.
The branch was inaugurated by Ngursanglur Sanate, MLA of 55-Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl Mannuamching, SDO Parbung Zosanglur Joute, PNB Churachandpur Branch Head Martin L. Mate, and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Ngursanglur Sanate highlighted the long-standing challenges faced by residents, stating that people earlier had to travel over 260 kilometres to Churachandpur for banking services. He expressed that the new branch would ease hardships and improve access to financial facilities.
Officials stated that the branch will facilitate direct benefit transfers, reduce travel time and costs, and support economic activities in the region. The Deputy Commissioner noted that the establishment of a nationalised bank branch is a key step towards the district’s administrative and economic development.
PNB officials assured that the branch will provide full banking services to the public. The programme concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and inspection of the facility by the dignitaries.
