Plight of Manipur SC community highlighted before central leaders

Imphal, July 23: Social Worker Robin Khwairakpam of Sekmai has highlighted the plight of the scheduled caste community in Manipur during a meeting with the BJP schedule caste Rashtriya Mahamantri Ramesh Chandra in New Delhi.
During the hour long meeting, Robin informed the BJP national leader that congress led state government failed to initiate any specific development and welfare activities for the schedule caste community sharing about 15 percent of the total population.
He also informed that the scheduled caste community have been deprived of the earlier benefits provided by the Tribal welfare department, with exception to some amount of educational scholarships.
He urged the central leader to upgrade the present schedule caste boys hostel, apart from constructing a new  SC girl hostel in Imphal to provide access to the girls coming from far flung villages in the state.
The central leader had a patient hearing to the complaints of Robin and later on assured to take up necessary action.
