Popular Front of India has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Allahabad High Court seeking court monitored judicial probe by are tired Supreme Court or High Court judge on the police violence in connection with the Anti–CAA protest in the state. The petition was filed by Md. Shahzad, UP State Adhoc committee member on the behalf of organisation.
Unlike other states where the protests against CAA – NRC –NPR were largely peaceful, the UP police has resorted to all sorts of atrocities such as Illegal arrests, custodial tortures, unauthorised riots, even targeting women and children. Many innocent lives were lost in police firing in different parts of the states. Even after getting exposed through video footages and reports of fact finding missions, Yogi Government continues to harass activists by falsely implicating them in new cases and by spreading false stories through a section of media.
The petition came for hearing today in the court. The court posted the case for tomorrow along with other petitions before it on the same issue.
