PIB organizes media workshop on new criminal laws

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Regional Office in Imphal, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, hosted a media workshop titled “Vartalap” focused on the theme “Three New Criminal Laws.” The event aimed to foster awareness and understanding of the newly introduced criminal laws among media professionals and officials.
The workshop was honored by the presence of distinguished guests and resource persons including Khogendra Khomdram, Bijoy Kakchingtabam, and St Haobam Sanghamita, MPS, SP (Prosecution). Their participation reflected their commitment to the people of Manipur and their dedication to national progress.
The workshop’s primary goal was to establish direct contact with grassroots communities and create an interface between the Press Information Bureau and media personnel across various levels, from state capitals to sub-districts. The event emphasized the importance of people’s participation in achieving the intended effects of any program.
The welcome address, delivered by a representative of the Press Information Bureau, highlighted the significance of collective effort. Quoting Henry Ford, the speaker said, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” The address underscored the role of media as storytellers who disseminate crucial information, empowering and restoring dignity to the public.
The workshop aimed to create awareness about the new criminal laws, enabling the public to equip themselves to meet new challenges. The speaker stressed the importance of media involvement in fulfilling national objectives and reaching every citizen, especially those in remote areas.
The event concluded with a call for collective action to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people and foster a sense of belonging and unity. The speaker expressed confidence that the combined efforts of the central and state governments, along with active media participation, would pave the way for a healthy and progressive nation.
