Members of Manipur Amateur Photo Club, in a condolence meeting held In the evening of 10 August at its office at New Checkon Road, condole the untimely demise of Its founder member Phanjoubam Santosh of Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak who passed away on 9 August 2019 clue to an ailment. A two minute silence was observed in honour of the departed soul. The club also shared the bereavement of his family.
Phanjoubam Santosh had been a member of Manipur Amateur Photo Club since Its inception in the name of lmphal Amateur Photo Club during the mid-1995 and has been actively involved in the activities of the club with regard to promotion and development of photography In the State. He was an avid photographer always ready to embark on photo expeditions to far flung hilly areas. It is indeed a great loss for the club and the photography fraternity to lose such a great inspiring photographer who was also a Photojournalist of the Press Trust of India by profession.
Thousands of photographs relating to Manipur ranging from landscapes, travel, people and places, lifestyles, culture, wildlife, environment, documentation, news photographs, events, indigenous sports, and architecture were credited to him and published in both national and international media. His works were exhibited in the club’s various photo exhibitions. In the year 2014, one thousand and one photographs shot by him were exhibited in a series of state wide solo photo exhibition held in various parts of the Manipur like Imphal, Jiribam and Moreh.
