PHED hands over 403 water supply schemes

Imphal July 15: Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Manipur has handed over 403 water supply schemes to the public since 2012 till now in order to supply water to the people of the state. This was stated by the state’s PHED Minister, I Hemochandra, answering to a question asked by MLA of Andro Assembly Constituency, Th. Shyamkumar during the question hour of the ongoing 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly. Hemochandra further said that out of 403, 77 water supply schemes are in Tamenglong District and 65 are in Thoubal District.

During the question hour MLA of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency, Y. Erabot asked whether the Forest Department de-reserved 0.956 hectare land in the forest area for construction of T.B. and Leprosy Treatment Centre to accommodate the patients. Answering his question, Forest and Environment Minister, Th. Devendra said that there has no de-reservation of any forest land for the purpose. He further said that the government however, has been diverted an area of 0.956 hectare forest land has been diverted for the purpose.
