PHED announces temporary changes and disruption in Water Supply in parts of Imphal

The Public Health Engineering Department Manipur has announced temporary changes and disruptions in water supply in several areas of Imphal due to a combination of reduced river water levels and maintenance work at a water treatment plant.
According to the Executive Engineer, Water Supply Maintenance Division No. II, Public Health Engineering Department Manipur, there will be temporary adjustments in the water supply roster in areas under the Canchipur Water Supply Scheme. The changes have become necessary as the water level in the Imphal and Iril rivers has dropped below the base level, affecting normal water abstraction and distribution.
The department has appealed to consumers in the affected areas to bear with the inconvenience and extend cooperation until the situation improves. The Public Health Engineering Department expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the general public.
In a separate notice issued by the Office of the Executive Engineer, Water Supply Maintenance Division No. II, dated December 15, 2025, the department informed that water supply from the Ningthempukhri Water Treatment Plant will remain suspended for three days due to maintenance work.
As a result, water supply will be disrupted in areas including Ningthempukhri Makha Leirak, Sabi Leirak, Wangkhei Andro Parking, Nongmeibung Chakpram Leirak, Wangkhei St George Leirak, Guruaribam Leirak and areas covered by the Aribam Leikai Zonal Reservoir during the maintenance period.
