Petrol pumps in Manipur to shut down on Jan 24

Manipur petroleum Retail Outlet Dealer Association has urged the Government of Manipur to initiate a departmental inquiry to prove security lapses on January 21, where escorted Petroleum product tankers were damaged and physically assaulted drivers by bandh supporters at Keithelmanbi.
The Association said that all the petrol pumps of IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, and Narayana Energy shall remain close on January 24, 2022 in support of the demands of the affected drivers for compensation and as a mark of solidarity. The decision was adopted during a telephonic meeting held today in connection with the incident with the office bearer of the association of HPCL, BPCL, IOCL, and Narayana Energy.
In the meeting, the association also resolved to urge the government of Manipur to provide all norms and rules of proper highway on NH-2 in the state of Manipur. Besides, the association demanded appropriate compensation to the affected drivers and for the damaged tankers by the government of Manipur within a stipulated time.
