People suspend daily activities; staged protest; form human chain demanding ILP

Normal life in Imphal came to a grinding halt as people suspended their daily activities in support to the demand of JCILPS as well as demanding immediate punishment of the police personnel involved to the killing of Sapam Robinhood on July 8.
Women folk cladded in funeral attires staged sit-in-protest at various places in Imphal and form human chain shouting implementation of Inner Line permit system in the state.
At some of the places like Keishamthong Elangbam leikai, near Imphal Times Office, the women folk stopped all vehicular movement however, they were allowed to pass through the protest site after getting down from the vehicles.
Almost all shops and business establishment at Imphal area including those at Kwairamband Keithel area remain closed during the day. All entertainment houses, private offices were also closed. Inter-district bus service, private passenger vehicles and others too stay of the road showing solidarity to the protest called by JCILPS.
JCILPS yesterday announced the line of agitation yesterday. It appealed the people to suspend one day daily activities and to stage protest demonstration including sit-in-protest, rally and forming human rights etc.
Protest were staged at Aramji Kabui Khul, Khamnam Leirak, Chingkham leirak, Soram leirak, Kangjabi leirak, Patsoi Part-III, Meino Leirak, Tera Keithel, Tayeng Khongbal, Top Leirak, Khagempalli, Pishum, Khurai, Soibam Leikai, Nongmeibung, Singjamei Mayeng leikai, Singjamei Okram leikai, Wahengbam Leikai, Kangabam Leikai, Thokchom leikai etc.
