Passenger vehicles vandalised during 14 hours transporters’ cease work strike

At least 20 passenger service auto vehicles including a Maruti Van were vandalised at various places in Imphal by suspected supporters of transporters’ body which had called a 14 hours cease steering strike in protest against the ongoing agitation for introduction of ILP legislation in the state. Transport organisation of the state had earlier announced the cease steering protest for the day today in solidarity to the ongoing agitation by the people of the state spearheading by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS). Spokespersons of the transport body has been appealing all sort of passenger service vehicles plying in the state to shun service for a day today and warned of serious consequences if the cease steering strike in support of the JCILPS and the people of the state has been violated.
According to eye witness at around 7.30 am today morning some people who came in a maruti car today vandalise some of the passenger auto service at Wahengbam Leikai area. The eyewitness said that at least 6 auto vehicles were destroyed.
At Ghari too, at around the same timing some strike supporters destroyed a auto vehicle carrying passenger and heading towards Imphal. Similar destruction was was done to passenger vehicles at Khuman Lampak too the report added.
