New Delhi, August 11:
The Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday saw repeated adjournments as protests by the opposition continued over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues.
In the morning, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2:00 pm following uproar from opposition members. The disruptions resumed shortly after proceedings reconvened, with the Lok Sabha being adjourned again till 4:00 pm, while the Rajya Sabha continued its business.
Tensions in Parliament were heightened earlier in the day after INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, were detained by Delhi Police during a protest march to the Election Commission of India. The incident prompted further disruptions in both Houses.
Amid the protests, the Rajya Sabha successfully passed The Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and The Manipur Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2025.
In the Lok Sabha, Minister of Labour and Employment, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, moved The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 and The National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 for consideration and passage.
The Monsoon Session, now in its 16th day, continues to witness disruptions as the opposition and government remain at odds over key issues.
