The Monsoon session of Parliament concluded today, marked by repeated disruptions and adjournments. The session witnessed a mix of legislative business and heated debates, with the Opposition protesting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, demanding a discussion on the matter.
During the month-long session, Lok Sabha passed 12 bills, while Rajya Sabha passed 14 bills, despite frequent interruptions. Key discussions included Operation Sindoor, during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s developmental and military posture. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar asserted India’s uncompromising stance on the Indus Waters Treaty, declaring, “Blood and water will not flow together.”
A major development during the session was the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21, 2025, citing health reasons and invoking Article 67(a) of the Constitution. His resignation coincided with the first day of the Monsoon session.
