Pambei-led UNLF remembers departed members during 9th Athoubasinggi Numit

The Observation Committee of the Pambei-led UNLF today observed the “9th Athoubasinggi Numit” at the Community Hall of Nongpok Sanjenbam in Imphal East district, paying homage to members of the outfit who had lost their lives in the course of their duties for the cause of the motherland.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered before the photographs of deceased cadres of the UNLF MPA led by Pambei. The programme was held as a mark of respect and remembrance for those who had sacrificed their lives while carrying out what the organisers described as important responsibilities for the welfare and future of the land and its people.
The memorial observance was attended by Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM) President Khongendra Khomdram, All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) President Asem Bhakta, Chairman of Village Development Authority, Nongpok Sanjenbam, Moirangthem Himalay, President of Kangleipak Tourist Centre, Nongpok Sanjenbam, Yumkhaibam Girani, and Observation Committee President Maibam Ningthempisak, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Maibam Ningthempisak said the departed members who had laid down their lives for the motherland had rendered invaluable service and undertaken numerous meaningful works for the future generations. He stated that the sacrifices made by the deceased cadres could never be forgotten by the people.
He further remarked that merely offering tributes at memorial sites or before photographs of the departed was not sufficient to honour their contributions. Stressing the need to preserve and uphold their legacy, he said efforts would be made in the coming years to organise the observance on a much larger and more meaningful scale.
The programme concluded with the attendees paying collective homage to the departed members and recalling their contributions and sacrifices.
