Palace site of Moirang Kingdom declared as protected site

Imphal, Nov 30: Government of Manipur has declared the ancient palace site of Moirang Kingdom located at Bishnupur district which covers an area if .62 , as protected sites under section 4 of the Manipur Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archeological Sites & Remains Act, 1976.
An order in the matter has been issued in the name of the governor of Manipur by M. Laksmikumar Singh, Commissioner (Arts & Culture , Government of Manipur.
A notification for any objection regarding the declaration of the palace site as protected area has been issued on June 5, 2017. As no objection has been come forward so far and within the stipulated 2 months time, the site has been declared as protected site.
