Imphal, Nov 7: Popular Front of India, Manipur State today said that the conference organised at Shastri Park, Delhi, was a grand success amidst attempt by administration and police.
A statement said that the conference was part of the campaign “We also have something to say” being organized by Popular Front of India across the country to expose the false allegations against the organization.
It said there was an attempt by the administration and police to foil the programme by creating obstacles in the arrangements of the programme. After initially giving a nod to conduct the conference the police tried to stop the conference in the morning by disturbing the arrangements at the venue already completed.
Finally, the Police administration had to adjust with the masses that had thronged to the
Shastri Park to convey their support to Popular Front. More than 400 buses were prevented from moving to the venue at the Delhi-UP border and different localities of Delhi. There were attempts to stop people from even coming to the ground but the masses displayed exemplary courage and thwarted all attempt to curb their democratic right. The turnout was massive and exceeded all expectations, which is indeed an indication that the people of Delhi and surroundings have rejected the allegations against Popular front.
The event started when A.S Ismail, North Zone President of Popular Front hoisted the tricolor flag of the organization at the conference venue. Anis Ansari, Zonal Secretary of Popular Front of India welcomed the guests and people attending the conference. The conference was inaugurated by the Chairman of Popular Front of India E. Abubacker. He appreciated and congratulated the masses for participating in the conference. He reiterated the commitment of Popular front for the protection of people’s rights and promised the masses that such smear campaign cannot frighten Popular Front of India. The Secretary of Popular Front, Anis Ahmed presented the keynote address in which he exposed the nefarious plans of
the fascist forces and also presented the truth behind the fake allegations against the organization.
The programme was attended by prominent personalities who spoke on the occasion and conveyed their support for Popular Front. The guest speakers also urged the Popular Front leadership to initiate legal action against the police and administration for disturbing the conference. The conference was a sign of the growing support and acceptance that Popular front of India is able to garner in Delhi adjacent areas. The massive turn out in spite of the atmosphere of terror created to thwart people away, has illustrated their resolve to rally with Popular Front for attaining total empowerment and their democratic rights, the statement added.
