Over thousands of youths gathered voluntarily to protect Manipur

Imphal, Sept 3:

Thousands of youths from various parts of the Manipur valley districts today gathered at the ground of the Social Welfare Club, Khongman Zone-IV in Imphal East, and discussed in depth on the line of action that will be taken up to end the ongoing conflict haunting the state since May 3.
‘Youths of Manipur’ is neither an existing organization nor a newly formed organization, but a nomenclature coined by the gathering today. There is no information on who organized today’s meeting and how the youths numbering over five thousand were brought together. Unlike other meetings no persons attended as dignitaries in the dais. All those youth gathered today were given an opportunity to express their opinions. Interesting part is that everyone presented unanimously resolved to stand together and fight for the territorial and administrative integrity of the state. The meeting began at 9 am and continued till late in the afternoon.

The meeting resolved to urge all CSOs working for the welfare of the indigenous people of the state to make public their line of action. It also resolved to urge the government to conduct another state assembly session to resolve for protection of the territorial and Political integrity of Manipur. The Youth meeting also urged the MLAs and ministers to announce their stand in connection with the issue and also urged to compensate those who died in the violence while protecting the integrity of the state.
The meeting also urged to remove the Assam Rifles troopers and replace them with some other neutral troopers. The gathering also agreed to work together on the line of action prepared by the Youths within 3 days.
