Imphal, July 18: Drug peddlers in the state are utilising minors for transportation of contrabands in Indo-Myanmar border . This comes to light after a combined team of security forces led by Dr . Dr . S Ibomcha Sigh , SP in Charge of Tengnoupal district. The combined troop Manipur Police and Assam Rifles caught a 14 years old minor boy who was carrying over Rs. 3.39 crore worth contraband items in International market. Police source said that he minor boy was apprehended at Kwatha junction yesterday at around 2:30 pm by a combined team which consist two lady personnel. The contrabands seized are 127 grams of Brown Sugar , 50 gram of Heroine Grade-I and 6970 WIY tablets. It is one of the largest contraband seizures in the state. According to report, the juvenile (name withheld) was detained along with a lady accomplice identified as Ms. Liam Haokip (30), w/o Thinkhojim Gangte, a resident of Chikkim village, Moreh. Both of them were using jungle route. The juvenile was carrying a backpack full of contrabands. Following information received from the two detained two other , a woman and a man were also apprehended from an auto- rickshaw . The two apprehended later were identified as Ms. Domjahat Haokip (35), w/o Thangkulun Haokip, a resident of Chikkim village, Moreh and Mr . Letkhothang Lhungdim (38), s/o Jilhun Lhungdim, a resident of Lhangkichoi Veng Moulhoi, Moreh. The two were supposed to further smuggle the backpack till Churchandpur . An individual identified as Mr . Thengkhojam Gangte (35), s/ o Lumcha Gangte, a resident of Chikkim Village, Moreh involved in sending the contrabands from Moreh has also been arrested. The operation was said to be carried out following a specific input by highly reliable source. The operation was led by N. Pritamkumar Singh under the supervision of Dr . S Ibomcha Sigh, MPS, Superintendent of police, Moreh. Recovered items along with the contrabands are: 127 grams of Brown Sugar , 509 gram of Heroine Grade-I and 6970 WIY tablets, two Samsung mobile phones, two Nokia mobile phones, Korean currency-T en thousand Won, American currency- Two Dollars, two SBI ATM cards – 5196190097634192 under the name Domjahat Haokip and 6220181179400011582 under the name Letkhothang Lhungdim, two UCO ATM card – 6070663273002805 and 6070663273007630, four Adhar cards belonging to Domjahat Haokip, Letkhothang Lhungdim, Thenkhojam gangte and Lamkhohao Haokip, and a Pan card belonging to Domjahat Haokip. The juvenile (14) detained will be produced to Juvenile Justice Board for further necessary action, the report said
