Over 5,000 DM Community College graduates face uncertain career over non-registration with NCAHP

The academic future of nearly 5,000 students who have completed their graduation from DM Community College has been thrown into uncertainty after the institution allegedly failed to register them with the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP).
Students alleged that the former nodal officer of the college did not register the institution and its students with the Commission within the stipulated period. As the deadline for registration has reportedly expired, the Commission has not approved the courses completed by the graduates.
As a result, students claimed that their three to five years of academic pursuit may go in vain, as they are unable to seek admission to postgraduate programmes in universities or secure employment in healthcare institutions, which are reportedly declining their applications due to the absence of recognition from the Commission.
Expressing strong resentment over the alleged negligence, students staged a protest and locked the office of the nodal officer as well as the office of the former nodal officer, Hemchandra, who is currently serving as Dean of the Life Sciences Department.
The aggrieved students stated that they had approached the Vice-Chancellor of DM University, but were informed that the university had no direct administrative control over the community college and were advised to consult the former nodal officer.
Students further said that they had spent approximately Rs. 18,000 per year for the course, which has a duration of three years, while some took four to five years to complete it. They asserted that they would continue their agitation until their courses receive due approval from the concerned Commission.
