OUGRI festival kicks off

Four days long Ougri, a technical and cultural festival was inaugurated today by National Institute of Technology Manipur at main stage, NIT Manipur.
Attending the inaugural function as Chief Guest, Moirangthem Okendro, Minister of Education, CAF & PD Manipur appreciated NIT Manipur for its progressive works. He said that fifty percent of the first batch students who passed out from NIT Manipur in 2014 got recruited in reputed companies through college placement. He appreciated NIT Manipur for it is setting up a bamboo technology centre pursue it as a centre of excellence in collaboration with national organisations and international agencies like China, Taiwan and Vietnam. He hoped NIT Manipur nurturing the technologies new bamboo products will come up and export in India and abroad.
The main objective of the Ougri festival is to preserve the old tradition of Manipur, said Nillakumar, Convennor, Ougri Festival 2015. He said the festival is a yearly event and this year it is celebrated with the theme of beat the tide for all the students to fight any obstacles freely.
