A man succumbed to his injuries while he was allegedly thrashed by his neighbour over land dispute at Jiribam.
As per police report, on Tuesday at around 8.10 am, one Sofijul Rahaman (52) yrs s/o (L) Arbesh Ali of Ahmedabad Pt-II, Jiribam along with his sons namely Mijajul Haque (34) yrs, Mayajul Haque (24) yrs , Anarul Haque (20) yrs and his wife Mojibun Nesa deliberately trespassed at the house of the victim located at Ahmedabad Part-II, Jiribam and assaulted Md. Abdul Rahaman (62) yrs s/o (L) Abdur Rof Ali by using deadly weapons like Dao, stick, etc. after an argument arose relating to the possession of a patta-land recorded in the name of the victim.
Immediately, the victim was evacuated to 50 Bedded Hospital, Jiribam for treatment. However, the attending doctor declared him dead.
In connection with the incident, the Jiribam District Police arrested the prime accused Sofijul Rahaman. However his sons who were associates fled from the village after committing the crime.
Today after completing all the formal procedures and postmortem, the dead body was accepted and buried by the locals and family members as per their religious last rites in presence of Superintendent of Police, Jiribam.
The S.P Jiribam Mubi Moirangthem also assured the family members and locals to arrest all the culprits involved in the crime at the earliest. He also provided relief aids to the bereaved family on humanity ground.
