One day workshop on Traditional Medicinal Plant held

A one-day workshop on “Exploring the Traditional Medicinal Practices of Manipur” was held today at the auditorium of Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development, at Takyelpat here in Imphal in association with Apunba Manipur Maiba Maibi Phurup.

The inaugural function was attended by Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director IBSD, Imphal, Dr. JLN Sastry, CEO National Medicinal Plant Board, Dr. A Guneshwar Sharma, Director Ayush Manipur, Kedar Arvind Kulkarni, Organising Secretary Kalyan Ashram Manipur among others.

In the technical session, various resource persons including scientists from outside the state delivered in-depth knowledge of the medicinal plants being used by traditional healers of the state. Dr. Subash C. Mandal, Asst. Director, Directorate of Drugs, West Bengal, Dr. Prakash R. Itankar Asst. Professor, RTM Nagpur University, Dr. L. Sathiyarayanam, Associate Professor, Poona College of Pharmacy and N. Tombiraj, President,  AMMMP,  Manipur  State Traditional Healer  Association, Imphal spoke on the prospect of traditional medicinal plants that are still used for curing diseases.
