One day peoples’ convention held

Imphal, Dec 9: One day Peoples’ Convention was held today organised by United Committee Manipur (UCM) at GM Hall, Imphal.
During the convention, following resolutions were taken: To Persuade United Naga Council (UNC) not to impose economic blockades in the future, State Government must persuade to uplift the economic blockade in the interest of the people of the state, the communities resolve to maintain the peace and harmony and territorial integrity among each community of the state, the long standing demand of the people- the Highway Protection Force must be deployed along the National Highways at the earliest and State and Central Government must lift the indefinite economic blockade called by UNC and UNC must be awarded the right punishment as per the law of the land. Professor W Nabakumar of Anthropology Dept, MU was the Moderator while UCM President Elangbam Johnson was the President of today’s convention in which more than 30 speakers representing different social organisations  expressed their views and suggestions on the basis of which the resolutions were taken
