One day North East Festival for Weavers organized

Weavers’ Service Centre, Imphal has organized one day North East Festival in its premises at Porompat, Imphal today as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating 75th Year of Independence by inviting state/national awardees, handloom weavers, designers, entrepreneurs, handloom agencies, production companies, eminent handloom personalities of the state. Dr. Ksh. Tama, Upadhyaksa, Zila Parishad, Imphal East graced the function as Chief Guest and Dr. M. Srinivasa Rao, General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Manipur Regional Office presided over the function. Lead Bank Manager, PNB, Imphal and representatives from NABARD. MSME Development Institute,
Imphal, State Rural Livelihood Mission, Manipur also attended in the function as resource persons. About 250 weavers attended in the function
H.K. Baro, Deputy Director while delivering welcome and key-note address highlighted the main purpose for organizing the North East Festival and also disseminated information of the major initiatives of the Government of India, Ministry of Textiles for the development of handloom sector by power point presentation. Resource persons present in the function also highlighted about various schemes being launched by their respective organizations for the welfare of handloom weavers of the state.
National Awardees (Handloom) have been felicitated during the function. Pahechan Cards have been distributed to handloom weavers. Certificates for SAMARTH training program have also been distributed to the weavers who have undergone training under SAMARTH scheme.
Leaflet containing various schemes of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India such as Cluster Development Programme, India Handloom Brand, Handloom Mark etc was also distributed to all the participants. Cloth samples, paper designs developed by WSC, Imphal were also displayed during the function.
