Taragi Cheisu –an advisory body of concerned citizens belonging to diverse fields of work and professions organized a One-Day meet under the banner – Apunba Pangal Sagatnaba Khwai Taragi Meepham, at the HuiyenLanglon Thang-Ta Association in Imphal West, Manipur on Saturday. The gathering drew 51 representatives from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Women Organizations, and Clubs, all convened with a common goal: addressing pressing issues affecting the state and its populace.
During the meet, participants tackled a myriad of challenges facing the community, notably addressing concerns regarding the lack of coordination among organizations with aligned objectives. Moreover, strategies were exchanged on how best to safeguard the state’s composite heritage, plural social fabric, and integrity. The urgency of collective efforts towards economic revitalization and resettling displaced individuals back to their original homes and villages was also underscored.
Stressing on the complexities of conflicts within a multi-ethnic society, Chairman of Tarigi Cheisu, Advocate Khaidem Mani emphasized the paramount importance of upholding high moral standards and practices. This ethos aims to ensure equal respect for diverse identity communities, uphold human dignity, and foster actions conducive to mutual understanding and communal harmony.
The primary outcome of the meeting was the consensus to establish a State Level Coordinating Body or Mechanism. This entity will collaborate with stakeholders and citizens on mutually agreed common programs, grounded in principles of equality and mutual respect, to address pressing issues.
Taragi Cheisu, comprising concerned citizens from diverse professional backgrounds, will spearhead the establishment of this coordinating mechanism, with a focus on addressing specific issues as they arise.
Under the stewardship of Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani, the meeting, which also saw the presence of esteemed individuals like Dr. R.K. Nimal and A. Nautuneshwori Devi, concluded with plans for a subsequent meeting to finalize the coordination mechanism.
