Old bomb explodes while burning trash at Luwangsangbam

An old unexploded ordnance (UXO) reportedly detonated while trash and dry vegetation were being burnt at a residence in Luwangsangbam Maning Leikai under Heingang Police Station at around 9.30 am today.
The explosion occurred within the residential compound of Loushigam Pakpa, aged 67, son of late L. Babuyaima. According to local sources, the blast is believed to have been caused by an old bomb, as the area is known to have been a significant site during the Second World War.
Pakpa stated that materials linked to the Second World War had previously been recovered from the locality. Reports indicate that the ordnance exploded while bushes were being burnt inside the compound. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Subsequently, during a search operation in a nearby bamboo grove around 10.05 am, two additional unexploded bombs were discovered. The recovered ordnance was handed over to the Bomb Disposal Squad.
