Oinam Romen and Team provides relief to storm-damaged homes

Following a relentless onslaught of heavy downpour accompanied by hailstorm, lasting four hours on Sunday, numerous residences across various areas of the Singjamei Assembly Constituency also suffered significant damage to their roofs. In response to this crisis, Oinam Romen Singh, a dedicated Social Worker, took immediate action by distributing CGI Sheets to affected households this afternoon.
Venturing into the heart of the affected areas on Monday morning, Romen Singh and his team diligently assessed the extent of the damages inflicted by the storm. Providing assurance to distressed families, they pledged to expedite the replacement of damaged roofing with new CGI Sheets.
Speaking during the distribution efforts, Romen Singh emphasized that it is his inherent responsibility as a Social Worker to extend aid to those in dire need within the Constituency. He underscored the fact that the initiative is solely funded from his personal resources, highlighting his commitment to assisting the community without seeking political gain. With over a decade of dedicated service to the people of the Constituency, Romen Singh reiterated his steadfast commitment to selflessly serving the populace.
Furthermore, Romen Singh noted the government’s announcement of assistance to affected families as a positive step. However, he emphasized the urgency for swift action, highlighting the plight of numerous families currently without shelter. Urging authorities to expedite necessary measures, he stressed the immediate need to address the growing homeless population.
Today, CGI sheets were distributed to 150 households, with plans underway to provide aid to the remaining affected families in the near future. As the community rallies together in the face of adversity, Romen Singh’s proactive efforts serve as a beacon of hope for those grappling with the aftermath of the devastating storm.
