Imphal, Nov 24: Even though the Union government has announced to extend the date for acceptance of the Rs. 500 and Rs 1000 denominations till November 24, almost all pharmacies in and around Imphal refuse to accept Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency note.
Even in Hospitals, authorities are not accepting the Rs 500 or Rs 1000 denominations. At oil depot too, at which oil are being distributed on rationing basis Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination are refused to be accepted from the customers. However, some with permits argued and finally Rs 500 or Rs 1000 denominations were accepted but on the condition that the remaining changes should not be returned. When asked filled for the remaining changes those salesmen refused to fill stating that the petrol is limited. They made customers to share the remaining amount with other customers.
