Imphal, Nov 13: With the UNC sponsored economic blockade along the two National High way entering 13 days, oil depots here in the state capital are now running dried as oil tanker had stopped transporting fuel. Condition is no better with the day today required essential commodities. The UNC volunteers had stopped all sorts of goods ferrying vehicles at both NH-1 and NH 37. Report culled from the market suggests that if the blockade continues and transporters stopped ferrying of essential commodities, shops dealing with essential commodities too will be emptied too.
According to our reporter, some black marketers are now selling the petrol at Rs 300 per litre. One wanders how these black marketers are able to get the petrol at a time when almost all petrol pump are running dry. A total of 15 Oil depots are open in Imphal East and Imphal West. Total number of oil depot opened in the state is 37. Report however said that in Senapati district people there did not face problem of fuel scarcity.
The United Naga Council (UNC) followed the indefinite economic blockade on National High Ways from November 1 after 48 hour total bandh in Hill district called on August 28 and 30, in protest against the demand of Sardar Hill district.
