Imphal, July 20:
The All Manipur Nupi Marup has appealed the government the internally displaced people be allowed to return to their homes.
The organization has expressed grave concern over the lack of adequate support from the part of the government.
L. Sumatibala, Secretary of All Manipur Nupi Marup, highlighted that the aftermath of the devastating incident on May 3 has left many people homeless. “Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in his address to the media, stated that despite appeals to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the situation remains critical, especially with the onset of the rainy season,” she stated.
She further mentioned that since June 6, a fresh wave of violence in Jiribam and Assam border resulted in further displacement of Meitei families, exacerbating the already dire conditions in relief camps.
All Manipur Nupi Marup has documented instances where relief operations were obstructed due to law and order situations, and where genuine efforts to support displaced individuals were hampered. Despite these challenges, the organization continues to advocate for the rights and welfare of those in the relief camps.
