The Nupi Lal Day Organisation Committee observed Nupi Lal Day at the JN Manipur Dance Academy Hall, Imphal, paying tribute to the women who sacrificed their lives for Manipur while delivering strong criticism of both the state and central governments for their handling of the ongoing crisis. The event, organised by AMKIL, KANGLAMEI, Poirei Leimarol, AMAWOVA, Nupi Samaj, Tammi Chingmi, MEPWAK, KIL, and CLK, brought attention to alleged political inaction and systemic manipulation.
Prominent attendees included L. Nganbi Leima, President of Apunba Manipur Ima Lup (AMKIL); Y. Leirik Leima, President of Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meira Lup (KANGLAMEI); S. Memcha, President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur; Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, Convenor of the Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM); G. Atongpi Kameipui, President of Kabui Mothers’ Association; and Ekham (O) Jano Begum, President of Kherstrigao Meira Paibi Apunba Lup.
Speaking at the event, S. Memcha highlighted the sacrifices made by Manipuri women, stating, “We are paying floral tribute to those mothers who sacrificed themselves for Manipur.” She further argued that the current unrest is not a community conflict but “a design of the Indian Government.”
Criticising the state government, she said, “This state government is a puppet regime and has surrendered its power to the central government. They are staging dramas to avoid genuinely addressing the crisis.”
