Imphal, Nov 24:

The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) expresses its anguish at the indiscriminate firing which took place along the Meghalaya – Assam border in West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya and West Karbi Anglong district of Assam during the wee hours of 22nd November 2022 leading to the loss of six (6) precious lives.
The Federation in a press release strongly condemns the barbaric and anti-societal act which had outraged the sentiments of the entire North East region and beyond. While the general populace is collectively striving towards lasting peace and stability, to bring about a life of dignity and the shared purpose of peaceful coexistence and respectful relationships, such inhumane and diabolical act negates the very aspiration of the masses and ought to be out rightly condemned by all right thinking citizens.
The press release further added, NSF appeals for peace and unity in the region as we continue to press forward in strengthened cooperation while also sparing no efforts to uproot those elements and practices which are against the social and economic progress of our people. We must respect each other’s history and basic human rights, accept each others differences and value the common interests so as to establish a secure future where the entire region will thrive in harmony.
The Federation appeals to the authority concerned that due process of law is followed through an impartial probe to settle the issue amicably at the earliest possible time, the press release added.
