NSCN YR on 44th Naga Republic Day warns GOI against scrapping FMR

IT News
Imphal, Mar 22:

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang faction (NSCN YR) has made it clear on the 44th Naga Republic Day that it will not passively stand by while the Government of India (GOI) attempts to alter the political and geographical landscape of the Naga country by scrapping the Free Movement Regime (FMR).
In a statement released on the occasion of the 44th Republic Day, the NSCN YR group paid tribute to the visionary leadership of the founding fathers of the Naga movement and the sacrifices of Naga martyrs who laid the foundation for our quest for self-determination. The NSCN YR also expressed solidarity with the cadres who have suffered injuries and imprisonment in the pursuit of the nation’s cause, assuring them of the collective prayers and support of our people.
NSCN YR’s statement reveals their firm stance against what they call the “illegal occupation of the Naga country by India and Myanmar for 76 years.” NSCN YR emphasized the need for international accountability for the atrocities committed against our people. It also asserted that despite attempts to suppress our voice, the spirit of resistance remains strong among the Nagas. The statement said, “India has never recognized nor respected the unique history and political right of the Nagas.
The NSCN/GPRN’s decision to abrogate ceasefire in 2015 was not our weakness but our strength because GOI is not sincere to solve the complex Naga issue.”
Regarding the recent developments, “policy by GOI to scrap the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and build a separation fence over the imposed border is like rubbing salt into the wounds of the Nagas. However, this is just another chapter in the Nagas’ long history under domination. We will not sit idle and watch while GOI blatantly alters the political and geographical landscape of the Naga country,” the statement added.
NSCN K also condemned the rise of Hindu nationalism under the Modi-led BJP government in India, citing recent communal violence in Manipur and the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) as evidence of the erosion of democratic values and cultural identity.
Asserting the NSCN K’s unwavering commitment to Naga sovereignty, the group declared the decision to abrogate the ceasefire in 2015 as a show of strength in the face of the Government of India’s insincerity in resolving the Naga issue.
In a call to action, the NSCN K urged all Nagas to stand united in defense of our rights and freedoms, vowing to continue the struggle until India and Myanmar recognize our full sovereign birthright.
