NSCN-IM condemns drone attacks in Naga areas of Myanmar

The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), through its Ministry of Information and Publicity, has condemned two reported drone attacks in Naga areas of Myanmar, alleging that the strikes caused civilian deaths and involved the dropping of around 60 explosive devices.

In a statement, the GPRN/NSCN-IM said a drone attack allegedly targeted the residence of NSCN-K (Yung Aung) Brigadier Akham Konyak at Langkho village on October 3, reportedly killing two civilians.

It also alleged that a second drone attack struck Mt. Horeb Camp in Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone in the early hours of October 11, with approximately 60 explosive devices reportedly dropped during the operation.

Describing the alleged attacks as indiscriminate and disproportionate, the organisation said no political, military or ideological justification could excuse actions that endangered civilian lives.

The GPRN expressed solidarity with Naga people across political and geographical boundaries and called on concerned parties, regional stakeholders and international observers to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation into the incidents. It demanded that those responsible be identified and held accountable.

Stressing the need for a peaceful resolution to the region’s political differences, the statement said dialogue should remain the principal means of resolving disputes rather than military action.

The organisation also categorically denied allegations linking the NSCN/GPRN to the reported drone strike on Mt. Horeb Camp. It asserted that the group had no direct or indirect role in planning, authorising or executing the attack and claimed that no personnel, equipment or aerial assets under its command or control had been deployed near the location on the day of the incident.
